12-23-14 Hi-tech snow removal; Scavo gets new home; Angels in our midst

Salt is OK in removing snow from the roads….but West Des Moines is adding a high tech camera to the process..which will monitor pavement temperatures and conditions…to be mounted on the Jordan Creek parkway next month.

Des Moines’ Scavo High school will start the new year in a new locale…the fourth floor of Central Campus…part of a 7.7 million dollar renovation of Central. Scavo is the main alternative school for Des Moines Metro…gathering it’s 300 students from five area high schools.

A Washington county man found a unique way to honor his wife who died last month of kidney cancer. David Friese went to the Coral Ridge mall Saturday afternoon…and proceeded to pass out pictures of his wife to shoppers…reading…."Kim..My angel inspired me to give this to you. I hope she inspires you as well". Attached to Kim’s picture was another picture… Andrew Jackson….on $20 bills.
