A big ticket speed trap?

Des Moines’ police department says they need the camera on I-235 to keep an eye on traffic because there’s no room to park a cruiser along that stretch. IDOT told the city to shut down the camera because there weren’t enough accidents in the area to justify having one there, and it looked like it was only in use to generate speeding tickets.  The city makes more than a million dollars off of tickets generated from that camera, so the city manager is recommending they appeal the IDOT decision.
