Federal safety officials say train tank cars transporting ethanol or oil need to be retrofitted to make them more fire resistant.  The National Transportation Safety Board came out with yesterday’s warning after a series of accidents involving train cargo explosions in recent months. The board also said a ten-year retrofit timeline proposed by the tank car industry was too long to wait.
