The list of names for the male giraffe calf born on Wednesday, September 7 have been released. Blank Park Zoo is asking that the public vote for their favorite name through noon on Friday, September 23.

The final name will be revealed on Monday, September 26.

The choices are:Mosi – meaning ‘first born’

Bakari – meaning ‘hopeful, promising’

Ikemba (Kemba) – meaning ‘strength of a nation,’ ‘power of the people,’ ‘full of faith’

Tajiri – meaning ‘hope, confidence, wealthy’

Voting is free, but the Zoo is asking the public to consider a donation in honor of the new calf to Blank Park Zoo due to the loss of revenue this past year because of the pandemic.
