The owner of Southridge Mall in Des Moines is fighting a 16-billion dollar hostile takeover bid from Simon Property Group.  Simon had tried earlier to get Macerich to merge, but Macerich didn’t want to negotiate.  Macerich says Simon’s offer isn’t in the best interest of the shareholders.
