Taylor J. is Midwestern born and raised. She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and attended Columbia College Chicago, studying radio. Fun fact: rumor has it that Kanye West went to Columbia College Chicago at the same time… okay maybe that’s not such a fun fact.
She’s been on the radio all over the Midwest in cities like St. Louis, Indianapolis, Chicago, Quincy, Des Moines, and Joliet!
On the weekends, you can usually find her sipping on a cocktail (preferably made with Tito’s vodka) at a concert – and it could be anything from pop to rock to country to yacht rock (if you don’t know yacht rock, it’s soothing soft pop music from the late 70s and early 80s). If she stays in, she’ll be cuddled up with her elderly cat Louie (named after his birthplace, St. Louis) catching up on Vanderpump Rules or reading some chick lit (i. E. Colleen Hoover). Or maybe she’ll be on a nature trail listening to a motivational podcast.
While she loves being in a radio studio with a pair of Sony headphones over her ears, she’s equally fond of laying on the beaches of Northern Michigan with ear buds in. “Fresh Coast is the Best Coast” is her motto.
Three unique things about her? While reserved and quiet until she warms up to you, her party trick is that she turns into an Ikette when “Proud Mary” comes on at a party, there may be video if you search hard enough on the internet. She once was the Program Director of a St. Louis Hip/Hop Radio Station that was nominated for two Marconi Awards (The Grammy’s of radio). She won’t feel like she’s fully lived until she finally writes at least one book and learns to play the guitar!
